1. Seasonal Information
Rishikesh experiences distinct seasons throughout the year, and each season offers a different experience.
Spring (March–April): Pleasant and comfortable, with warm days and cooler mornings and evenings. This is an excellent period for yoga practice, sightseeing, and outdoor activities.
Summer (May–June): The weather becomes hot, with daytime temperatures sometimes reaching 35–40°C. Early mornings and evenings are generally more comfortable. Students are advised to stay hydrated, use sun protection, and wear light, breathable clothing.
Monsoon (July–September): Rishikesh becomes lush and green, with frequent and sometimes heavy rainfall. The weather is humid, and outdoor activities may be affected by rain. Students should bring a lightweight rain jacket or umbrella and suitable footwear.
Autumn (October–November): One of the most pleasant periods in Rishikesh, with clearer skies, comfortable temperatures, and relatively low rainfall. It is ideal for yoga, meditation, sightseeing, and exploring the surrounding area.
Winter (December–February): Days are generally pleasant and sunny, while early mornings and evenings can be cold. Warm layers are recommended, especially for early-morning yoga and meditation.
Weather conditions can vary from year to year, so students are encouraged to check the forecast before travelling and pack according to the season.

2. Weather Information
Rishikesh is located in the Himalayan foothills and has a warm summer, a rainy monsoon season, and cooler winter months.
Students should prepare according to the season of their course:
- Warm months: Light, breathable cotton clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a reusable water bottle.
- Monsoon months: Rain jacket or umbrella, quick-drying clothes, and comfortable footwear with good grip.
- Winter months: Warm layers, a sweater or fleece, and a jacket for early mornings and evenings.
- Throughout the year: Comfortable yoga clothing, walking shoes, and modest clothing for visiting temples, ashrams, and other spiritual places.
Rishikesh can experience sudden changes in weather, particularly during the monsoon, so outdoor excursions and activities may occasionally be adjusted for safety.

3. Tips for Responsible Tourism and Respecting Local Culture
Rishikesh is a major spiritual and pilgrimage destination, known for its yoga and meditation traditions, ashrams, temples, and the sacred Ganga River. We encourage all students to experience the city with awareness and respect.
- Dress modestly, particularly when visiting temples, ashrams, meditation centres, and other spiritual places. Covering the shoulders and knees is generally appreciated.
- Remove your shoes before entering temples, yoga halls, and places where footwear is not permitted.
- Speak quietly and respectfully in spiritual and residential areas.
- Ask permission before photographing people, ceremonies, teachers, or religious activities.
- Respect local customs and religious practices, even when they are different from your own traditions.
- Avoid littering and help keep the streets, ghats, and banks of the Ganga clean.
- Use reusable water bottles and bags where possible and minimise single-use plastic.
- Treat the Ganga and surrounding natural areas with respect. Do not throw rubbish into the river.
- Rishikesh has a strong vegetarian and spiritual culture. Students are encouraged to respect the local environment and dietary traditions.
- Be mindful when walking or travelling around busy streets, as traffic and local road conditions can be different from what you may be accustomed to.
- Most importantly, approach Rishikesh with an open mind, patience, humility, and respect for its local people and spiritual traditions.

4. Electricity and Outlets
India uses 230V electricity at 50Hz. Electrical outlets commonly found in India include Type C, Type D, and Type M sockets.
International students should bring a universal travel adapter suitable for Indian outlets. If your device is not designed to operate on 220–240V, check its voltage requirements before plugging it in.
Most modern phone, laptop, camera, and tablet chargers support a range such as 100–240V, but students should check the label on their individual devices.
Power interruptions can occasionally occur, particularly during periods of heavy rain or high electricity demand. It is useful to carry a power bank for your phone and other essential devices.
For international travellers, a universal adapter is the simplest option because plug types can vary between countries.
Beautiful and serene location in Rishikesh, carefully chosen to provide the perfect setting for your yoga journey.
